Sailing in the third week in July always brings us good luck, lots of sunshine and the odd adventure or two. Last summer was no exception. Our trip embraced a heatwave, multiple swims off the boat, several whale sightings – and a broken prop shaft.

My sister Gill has a 1974 Martin 29 yacht called Pelegrin and typically invites me and one other person on the annual jaunt north from Gabriola island, B.C.  This year, a friend Sandra (pictured) was along for the second year running, along with a promising cooler of goodies.

Our annual pilgrimage is featured in the February 2022 issue of Pacific Yachting magazine, out shortly. It’s available on magazine racks in British Columbia, Canada or by subscription.
