I found your Reader’s Digest article while in a waiting room… It caught my eye because just the previous day I had seen an exhibition of Afrcan textiles and the response of some contemporary Canadian artists to this work. One of them, Jamelie Hassan, had a small instalation about Bint el Soudan (one could open a small wooden box and sniff the scent, among other things).
